Hand woven on the ridged heddle loom using whole fleeces from the native shore sheep, here with stripes of natural colours from their fleeces.
I use the entire fleece (wool and hair) and make it into rug yarn at the North Ronaldsay Wool Mill. Woven on a cotton warp for strength, this rug is quite dense (sometimes they come out soft other times quite hard)
Quite soft yet hard wearing, may shed some fibres due to nature of this natural product. Would recommend this long rug being used as a feature rug in front of a fire, or bed or in a corridor
Not for heavy duty use.
